13 YEARS OF FUNDRAISING
…from securing legacy gifts to cleaning out the dreaded ‘fundraising event closet’.
Yep. I may have literally seen it all. From tiny wins (like an accurate list pull from the donor database) to inspirational moments (holy @#%@ we beat our year-end fundraising goal!) and everything in between (ever haul 200 spin bikes from a gym into a parking lot?) being a fundraiser holds a myriad of duties. And then there is the ACTUAL fundraising!
Like almost every fundraiser you know, I fell into it as a second career. After 15 years of directing the news in Edmonton at ITV, A-Channel and Global, I took a giant leap into the unknown.
I’ve worked in a lot of non-profit shops. And over the years, I’ve seen a lot of different approaches to fundraising. Some transactional (where are my silent auction peeps at?) and some transformational. It took me a while to figure it out, but the magic truly lies in the mindset. When we ground ourselves in gratitude, abundance and possibility, we create opportunities that donors respond to. And after we dream big, we get to work, writing down a plan with steps, actions, and achievable goals.
I’ve worked in major gifts at the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Annual Giving at the YMCA of Southern Interior BC, CMHA Kelowna & Ballet Kelowna to name a few. I founded Good 4 U Consulting Inc. in 2020 and now partner with some amazing organizations!
